Smile Makeoever Story

As long as modern dentistry has existed the dream "I wish I could push a button and make a tooth custom to my patient while they wait" must have as well.

After years of testing and multiple versions of development, the future is now. Introducing the CEREC system. This system creates custom porcelain crowns, veneers and more while you wait. In most cases there's no longer a need to send the crown to the lab to be created by hand. Think simple, durable and quick.

Over the next several weeks I will be writing an ongoing series of articles describing my personal experience receiving a "smile makeover" using this new system.

To an extent I'm every man with a limited budgettime for appointments or (most important to me!) tolerance of pain. These articles will be candid and try in a non-biased way to describe my experience going through the process.

What the heck is CEREC? Long story short, CEREC is a system that scans your mouth into a computer. It creates a model of your mouth (as shown in picture C) that allows a dentist to custom shape a tooth. He then "pushes a button" and the data is sent to a machine resembling an office printer and the process begins.

The machine literally makes your tooth while you watch, in around 30 minutes or so. You can see in photo B the mill forming my tooth from the blank. Water keeps the bit from overheating.

Once finished whatever color you like (really) is painted on and it's stuck in an oven to bake. The resulting tooth is is then put in just like normal.
